The Queen's Palace is the most dazzling building in Antananarivo, standing on the highest hills. In many parts of the city, you can see this sacred building as soon as you look up. The entire palace was designed by the Scottish missionary James Cameron for the Queen Ranavalona I. In 1867, the external Ranavalona II was added with an external stone structure. Although the roof and interior were still wooden, it was burned in a fire in 1995. Now it is a replica of the building, standing on the Queen's Palace. It offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Tana and its 12 sacred hills. The gate of the palace is engraved by an eagle (symbolizing military power). The most magnificent stone tomb is located on the left side of the gate. In Madagascar, it is respectful to point your finger directly at the royal tomb or palace.
