Cathedral of Our Lady Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Impressions in Antwerp 🇧🇪
The first time I visited Belgium, my trip took me to Antwerp - a town with great atmosphere, delicious food and dark academia vibes in the old town.
Lively Antwerp is a hidden gem. Its medieval streets, Renaissance monuments and vibrant nightlife tend to be overshadowed by its reputation as centre of the diamond trade and as the world's fifth-largest port. Cycling is a popular choice for getting around this stylish Flemish city. See thousands of Old Masters at the Royal Museum and Rubens House. Experience the bustle of life at the Grote Markt. Marvel at the art and architecture of the still unfinished Cathedral of Our Lady, started in 1351.
My personal highlights included seeing Grote Markt, having Belgian fries with mayo and riding a Bird scooter down the streets...

The Antwerp Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady, stands as a towering testament to the city's rich religious and artistic heritage. Its magnificent Gothic architecture, characterized by soaring spires, intricate stained glass windows, and ornate sculptures, commands awe and reverence from all who behold it. A visit to this historic landmark offers a journey through centuries of craftsmanship and devotion, with each archway and chapel telling a story of faith and artistic mastery. The cathedral's interior, adorned with masterpieces by renowned artists such as Peter Paul Rubens, invites contemplation and reflection amidst its grandeur. My own visit to the Antwerp Cathedral was a profoundly moving experience; I was struck by the sheer scale and beauty of the architecture, as well as the sense of peace that permeated its sacred halls. Whether marveling at its architectural splendor, admiring its artistic treasures, or simply basking in the tranquility of its surroundings, a visit to the Antwerp Cathedral is sure to leave a lasting impression on any visitor.

Antwerp Cathedral of Our Lady
This church can be called "magnificent" in terms of architecture, with a grand and imposing atmosphere. The interior of the church is also very exquisite, with full stories on the stained glass windows, and lifelike sculptures whether they are stone carvings, gold casting or wood carvings.
Also make a wish here, hoping to have the opportunity to fulfill it in the future.
The main church of the Virgin in Antwerp stands in the old town, a Gothic building built in 1352 and completed in nearly 200 years. It is also the tallest and largest church in Belgium. All Gothic churches have complex and beautiful patterns, and here is no exception. After such a long construction time, the hard work of countless architects, the decoration of the church can maintain a unified and coordinated style. Because it has a 123-meter spire, it is also known as the "medieval skyscraper." It can be clearly seen in a dozen or so miles, guiding the course of the ships entering the port of Antwerp.
The statue of a child and a puppy at the door of the church tells a sad story. In Belgium in the 19th century, the little boy Nello and his puppy Patola were inseparable partners. Because Nello likes to paint, she has always dreamed of becoming a painter like Rubens. However, because the family is poor, lonely and unappreciated, Nile has no money to learn to draw. On Christmas Day, he wandered alone in the streets of Antwerp. Because it was Christmas Eve, all the curtains covering the oil paintings in the church were opened for people to see. He only saw Rubenss paintings, and he was fulfilled, but he was small at night. The dogs warmed together in the cold wind until they died.
The interior of the church is both solemn and luxurious and well worth a visit. Famous for Rubens's altarpieces, "The Rise of Jesus", "The Fall of Jesus" and "The Assumption of the Virgin". This is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen.

Antwerp Central Station Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
If you only look at the picture, wouldnt you think of such a beautiful building but a train station? The Antwerp Central Railway Station in Belgium, built between 1895 and 1905, was built by the Belgian King Leopold II. The magnificent neo-Baroque architecture is decorated with more than 20 kinds of marble and stone. And magnificent. When it was completed, it was criticized for its luxury, but time has confirmed the vision of the builders. Today, this station has become one of the symbols of Antwerp and has been rated as the most beautiful railway station in the world.
Antwerp Iconic Architecture Meet Ferris Wheel
Antwerp Central Station, a masterpiece of architectural grandeur, welcomes travelers with its stunning blend of historic and modern design elements. The station's cathedral-like interior, adorned with marble and ironwork, exudes a timeless elegance. The expansive dome captures natural light, enhancing the majestic atmosphere. Adjacent to the station, the Antwerp Ferris Wheel provides a unique perspective of the city. Against the backdrop of the station's intricate facade, the wheel becomes a modern counterpoint, offering breathtaking views. Together, the architectural marvel and the Ferris wheel create an unforgettable experience, seamlessly merging the old and the new in the heart of Antwerp.

In addition to Mel Street, Antwerp has a beauty that is breathtaking, that is the central railway station in Antwerp. Because the Raddison Blu hotel we stayed in was opposite the train station, I carefully enjoyed the building from the inside out, 360 degrees from morning to night. This road passes through a lot of stations, which can give people a shocking beauty, but here. "The most beautiful railway station in Europe" is well-deserved.

Love a vibrant city? This is it! Antwerp
This is the lovely city i've been.
Talk about it's history, I couldn't agree more. I take a short train 30 minutes from Brussels and this city is easy to walkable.
You can see there is a lot of gems right here. As a muslim, I do respect their Gothic building. Their grote markt is lively and full of people. Nice!! At first I thought the historical building must be their church. oh well, my mistake. Some of it is a train station, their museum and their old government building.
In case you'd love to be here, do enjoy the vibrant nightlife of the city! Cheers!!

Antwerpen-Centraal
The Central Station immediately has a wow factor for those arriving by train in Antwerp.
The impressive building was built between 1899 and 1905 according to a design by the architects Louis Delacenserie and Charles Poupaert in an eclectic style. It is in fact already the third station on this spot after the previous two were demolished.
Originally it was a terminus where all trains had to turn in their direction of travel.
This changed in March 2007 after a thorough renovation and modernization of the station platform, in which a two-track tunnel was opened that runs under the station and part of the city so that trains can continue their route without turning.

The hotel opposite the Antwerp station is in an excellent location, the restaurant's large glass windows are the best location to enjoy the station. The location of the hotel is also very good, walking distance to the commercial street and the Rubens House. But spit it out, because it is very difficult to hold the tail room and the room with 4 numbers, in the case of telling the front desk (language communication is no problem, basically can be considered intentional) still give us a room number 4 and the tail room The room, after asking for a room change, gave us another tail room in another direction... This service is very speechless

Antwerp is a famous cultural center in Europe. People are attracted by its three major attractions: first, the old buildings in the old city with well-preserved and medieval atmosphere; second, the mysterious diamond processing and trading; third, the world's reputation. Painting art and numerous museums.
There is a bronze statue in the center of the Grote Market, which engraves the graceful arched shape of Brabault throwing giants off the Scheldt River. This is also the smooth and unrecoverable freedom of the Scheldt River. A sign. The cathedral near the
square is a charming place in the city, and the philosophers rely on oil painting to present the Bible story to you.
After visiting the former residence of Rubens, we strolled in Antwerp and came to this Mel Street. Mel Street and the night during the day are exactly the same. The lively place here made me not respond to the same street that I walked last night. In addition to the main street, the small street is also very stylish. Every street seems to have a story, it is worth listening carefully.
City trams in the Netherlands and Belgium are very common. Be careful when crossing the road, because the brakes are more difficult, so the tram will not avoid pedestrians.
Chinatown next to the hotel, today finally has time to walk. It is full of Chinese supermarkets and Chinese restaurants. Strolling around without purpose, the sunset is so beautiful, this is my last glimpse of Antwerp.

Beautiful historic castle. Was used as prison in 16th century, later as ship museum. Now you can go to the roof top for a nice view over the Schelde river towards the harbour and city and the tall ships on the day I visited.#passionpassport
