What travelers say:

The Temple of Irektion, one of the famous buildings of the Acropolis, was originally a stone temple for the remains of the eight saints. It is said that this is the place where the goddess Athena and the sea god Poseidon fought for the protection of the goddess of Athens. The Temple of Iraktion, located on a bumpy high ground south of the Temple of Erehshou, was built between 421 BC and 405 BC. It is a typical representative of the Ionian style of the Acropolis architecture. It is the final completion of the plan for the reconstruction of the Acropolis formulated by Perricus. Important building with a very sophisticated design.[1] The Temple of Irektion has three temples, dedicated to Zeus, the Greek god of the sea, Poseidon, and Hephistus, the blacksmith, and two distinctive colonnades connecting them. The temple of Iraktion, the ceiling and floor of the northern columns of the temple have square holes, which are said to have been pierced by Poseidon's Trident.
