The fun experience was good, but I wouldn't want to go again. The journey was long and the surroundings were inconvenient. There were few places to eat at noon. There was only one coffee shop for pizza. It was too cold to wear more clothes. The whole trip took a long time.
The ancient Puffing Billy Railway started in the early 20th century and is now a famous tourist train, becoming one of the more popular tourist activities in Melbourne. The small train has witnessed historical changes in Melbourne for the past hundred years. The small train, with a speed of only 20 kilometers per hour, takes you back to the not so distant past. The open wooden carriage allows you to intimately connect with nature and breathe in the purity of forest air. Shortly after the train leaves the Belgrave station, passengers will see the most famous landmark of the Puffing Billy railway line, the Monbec Creek Trestle. In addition, there are many stations along the way where passengers may exit the train.
△ Ride the small train with a history of more than 200 years
△ Breathe the fresh air and enjoy the natural scenery
△ Put your legs outside the carriage and feel as if you have traveled back to the 20th century

Puffing Billy Railway was a pleasant experience, even though it felt more geared towards children. The tour operator handled the tickets for me, which made things easier. There was no queue, but seating was on a first-come, first-served basis, so getting a window seat required arriving early. Most people were eager to grab those seats, and if you're late, you might miss out on the best views. Despite that,I still enjoyed my time there.A very pleasant day out. Would recommend to friends and all.
It was a special experience. I had never ridden a train where I could put my feet outside, and it was a steam train from a hundred years ago. In Melbourne in winter, it was very comfortable to bask in the warm sunshine, enjoying the scenery along the way and the enthusiastic waves from the residents. It was really like in Thomas the Tank Engine, everything became loving and friendly. The simple meals at the restaurant at Lakeside Station were delicious😋
love the experience of this Puffing Billy Railway.Had so much fun sitting on the carriage sills with my legs hanging out, and enjoying the scenery. We took the route from Belgrave to Lakeside. Pls remember to book your tickets online and arrive on time.
We were planning a trip onpuffing Billy to cap off our Christmas break, but found the online tickets had sold out. The website advised us that there would be tickets available on the day - sure enough we jumped straight on the 10.30 tonLakeside from Belgrave. What a lovely journey! Legs dangling out if the train through beautiful forest and a rickety bridge. A couple of hours exploring Lakeside, riding the pedal boats and eating ice cream before heading back. Snacks and a picnic are a must! Although there are a couple of cafés at the other end. The stationmasters, conductors and drivers were perfectly in character and made the whole experience magical. Look out for the wooden carved snake not far out of lakeside and the 1953 landslide site - both led to some interesting conversations with the children. Enjoy!
The train was an interesting experience as we could sit with our legs hanging outside the train. However, the whole time was 45 mins and it would get quite boring after 15 mins. The terminal was a lake station up on the mountain and there was only one restaurant
went for the puffy bully ride when I was in Melbourne in January. it's a happy happy ride even for adults. the experience of sitting by the ledge is truly thrilling. everyone is wearing a happy smile on their faces.
