What travelers say:

The cemetery of Recleta is also a more interesting environment, the whole cemetery is very empty feeling, there are many tourists here, there is a lot of choice.

Additional Information

Introduction

A cemetery for the stars, this graveyard is the final resting place for some of Argentina's most notorious and beloved citizens, including Raúl Alfonsín, Eva Perón, and a number of presidents. First built around a convent and church, the cemetery became part of a wealthy neighborhood after upper-class Argentinians fled to Recoleta during the 1870s yellow fever epidemic. Today, the cemetery contains elaborate mausoleums, statues and tombs - most in good shape, although a few have succumbed to the ravages of time. Tree-lined walkways allow visitors to stroll leisurely through the area.
