We stopped here on our way from Margarites to Chania. The pictures looked nice. However, it is touristy and crowded, with lots of sewage smells by the many souvenir stores. Should have stopped else...

Turtle watching at Lake Kournas
We did the pedalo ride on the lake and were lucky enough to see several of the turtles. Could have happily stayed longer

Interesting place Small lake turtles we have never seen there but a lot of good taverns where it is delicious relatively cheap to eat. For those who haven't bathed in fresh water for a long time ;)
