The biggest beach in Chicago sporting some dunes, great beach bar The Dock, beach volleyball courts, kayak rentals and a huge lawn park between the beach and Marina.
This beach can get packed in the summer but it is totally worth fighting the crowd! A nice spot to hang out with your family and you can bring your dog! If you're looking for the best dog beach though, try Foster Avenue Beach nearby.
A lovely place to spend the afternoon/evening. There are a few trails that, if you ignore the sounds of traffic on Lake Shore Drive, seem to teleport you out of the city and into a world of natural beauty. With beautiful views of the city from the harbor, flowers, plants, picnicking, and a beach, this is a great place for the family to enjoy some good old family fun.
Has gotten popular and crowded over the immediate past four years, but still a great place to hang out, play volleyball, lounge and people watch.
Montrose beach is really clean for a public beach they make sure it is kept in great condition do everyone can enjoy it! It is set on the edge of downtown Chicago so you have the view of the beautiful skyscrapers as well as the lake. There is a separate beach for dogs that is right next to it. Although this beach will tend to get pretty crowded.
