What people are saying:

Small Tokyo is full of Japanese flavours, so it is called the exotic area of Los Angeles. Small Tokyo can easily walk around on foot. The history dates back about a hundred years, and it has flourished since the first world war, but it was destroyed during the second world war. In recent years, it has been renovated and become a lively and united state, presenting both the design of the 19th century commercial buildings and modern buildings.

Additional Information

Introduction

If you seek a taste of Asian culture, but aren’t much for travelling internationally, you can steep yourself in Japanese traditions in southern California. “Little Tokyo” is four blocks that spans 67 acres in Los Angeles and provides a mix of American and Japanese cultures to its visitors. The streets of this landmark location are filled with traditional businesses such as Japanese tea gardens, grocery stores and shops. There were four official Japantowns in the United States and Little Tokyo is one. It plays hots to dozens of special events and festivals during the year such as Japanese holidays and festivals. Little Tokyo is a great place to learn about another culture and get a taste of Japan without leaving the United States.
