The bus climbed up the Titano Mountains, nearly 800 meters above sea level, through a winding mountain road, and walked uphill from the station through a city gate to its capital, San Marino. At first glance, unlike small Italian towns, the hilly castles and several churches are the main buildings, with shops, museums and restaurants on both sides of the narrow mountain streets. The place is small but quite lively - San Marino's tourism industry is its mainstay, and nearly 3 million tourists visit every year! Don't miss seeing the post office, San Marino stamps are one of the famous souvenirs, and you can also go to the visa office to stamp an entry stamp to say "check in" San Marino.
