If you miss this period, don't bother going, as you'll either find the leaves not yet yellow or already fallen. You also need to choose the right weather and time. Remember to check the weather forecast before you leave, which is generally accurate. You should go on a sunny day, as an overcast day greatly diminishes the experience. Take note, the best time is from five in the afternoon on a sunny day until it gets dark. The most important point is that the most beautiful autumn scenery is not in Xinduqiao town, but on the road from Kangding over Zheduo Mountain, past the Muya Holy Land, all the way to the Gongga Viewing Platform near Xinduqiao. The scenery is all along this stretch, so make sure not to miss it. There are many temporary parking viewing platforms built along this stretch of road, so do not park your car on the roadside, as it affects traffic and is unsafe.
