In the small town of Alegria in the Philippines, I woke at 3 am, gathered my gear and met our driver at the front of our hostel. For 500 Pesos per person or $10 USD we had a return trip to Osmeña Peak, the tallest peak on Cebu.
The three of us crammed onto the habal-habal, which was easy on the wallet but incredibly uncomfortable on the butt cheeks. If you are a budget traveler it will be your only choice from Alegria when looking to hike Osmeña Peak, but if you have the cash rent a car or get some other way up there!
Book a tour: You can do it DIY like me but there is a really good tour you can book as well. The tour I can recommend to you actually includes a visit to Kawasan Falls and Osmena Peak on the same day for just $30!

While planning my trip to Cebu Island in the Philippines, I knew I had to add Osmeña Peak to my itinerary. I had seen photos of this beautiful viewpoint before and knew it couldn’t miss from my Cebu itinerary.
Osmeña Peak is the highest mountain in Cebu and a bit of a tricky one to plan a visit to, if you’re looking for advice on how to explore Osmeña Peak, you’ve come to the right place!
In this Osmeña Peak guide I’ve included everything you need to know about visiting Osmeña Peak, including how to get there, details about the Osmeña Peak day hike, rough cost outlines, what to bring and more.
What is Osmeña Peak?
The highest mountain in Cebu, Osmeña Peak is the “peak” spot from which you can get stunning 360-degree views of Cebu island. It’s the most famous and beautiful viewpoint on Cebu.
From here you can see cool rock formations and farms stretching for thousands of kilometers that are reminiscent of the scenery of the famous chocolate hills of Bohol.
Osmeña Peak is the highest mountain in Cebu. I was not able to feel the heat of the sun because of the cold atmosphere. Being said as the highest mountain, it is not that hard though to climb on top because mostly you will just ride a motorcycle or what the locals refer to as 'habal-habal'. It is a little frightening though because you might fall off the edge.
