It's like a homecoming trip for me as my grandfather left Shunde to settle in Malaysia in the early 1900s to escape the poor living conditions in China during that time. Fast forward now and Shunde is thriving economically with its rich history of Cantonese cuisine. UNESCO even named Shunde as a "City of Gastronomy" in 2014 which is one of 3 cities in China to be awarded this recognition.
