Guangdongsheng Nongmin Xiehui Site

The former site of the Guangdong Farmers' Association was originally the villa of Chen Gongshou, the deputy head of the Guangzhou business group and the great landlord. In October 1924, after the revolutionary government headed by Sun Yat-sen quelled the rebellion of the business group, the villa was confiscated and owned by the revolutionary government. In January 1925, the Peasant Movement Workshop was relocated here from the Huizhou Guild Hall on Yuexiu South Road, and the third session was continued. The first farmers' congress of Guangdong Province was held in Guangzhou, and the Guangdong Provincial Farmers' Association was established. Since then, the office of the Guangdong Farmers' Association has been located here. At that time, there were two wooden guard boxes in front of the gate, guarded by the students of the agricultural lecture center with guns, and there was a horizontal plaque of the Guangdong Farmers Association hanging in front of the building, which was very eye-catching. The former site is a building with a two-story front building and a three-story rear building connected to each other, with a small patio in the middle. Formerly a garden in front of the building, it is now a spacious square. Except for the stairs of the front building, which have been changed, other parts of the structures are generally kept in their original state.
