Old European Style Area in Haikou, HainanQilou Old Street is a surreal little area in the middle of Haikou, Hainan. For brief moments it really does feel like you are walking down the streets of a traditional Portuguese town. There were some cute little cafes and boutique shops to wander around, ideal if you want to spend an afternoon there just taking it easy and drinking coffee. Best way to get there is probably a didi. A taste of old in the newA walk down this street in Haikou is a nice way to spend an hour or two. The buildings are well maintained and the streets nice and clean. There are some lovely coffee shops along the way which are worth a visit. Feel mixture of cultures by passing Arcades!Tropical restored arcades presented along Qilou Old Street will definitely provide you an opportunity to feel Portuguese vibes while staying in China! 🚌🚎🚕 It is super easy to get here on public transport as the bus stop has the same name as attraction itself. 🏡🏠🏚 After going through main gate you'll enter pedestrian street full of small restaurants with Hainan cuisine, gift shops and several local museums, that can tell you a lot about local culture and history of Haikou. 🍔🍟🥪 There are plenty of small shops selling fruits, different ice cocktails and of course restaurants, serving famous Hainan coconut chicken! The further from main gate you'll go, the more reasonable prices will be. Imho, it is better to visit this street in the evening, as it is getting more picturesque with all these colorful blinking ligts. The deeper you'll dive, the more unpolished and contrasting environment will become. You can really admire the vintage architecture while enjoying the modern day benefits of today. 😍 I stayed at the Metropolo Jin Jiang Hotel. The location is very convenient as it's close to the railway station and not too far from Haikou's attractions 🤞 Getting There - taxi from the hotel. Attractions - Haikou bell tower, old town architecture, Zhongshan road. Hotels - Metropolo Jin Jiang Hotel. Food & Restaurants - tradition tea houses and Chinese restaurants on Zhongshan road. Loved this area in Haikou ! feels like a different world! full of cute coffee shops and little shops to spend your time browsing ! definitely a must visit when in Haikou!
