I'm referring to this place as the biggest of the all Buddha temple in China, because it is so huge in area. This 12 km hike has started for us by 10🕙 in the morning. We were curious to see the Feilai peak, but it was temporarily closed for some maintenance. And so, we went on to other hiking 🥾 path like the Shili langdang path that took us to Five Clouds Hill where you can see some tea 🍵 plantations (although in small amount) below the pagoda like structure. It is so good fragrance, that re-energized us to continue until Hupao mountain; translation would be Tiger spring mountain. There are places to relax and eat here. I would say this as a moderate hike, with quite less difficulty. Should be doable to anyone💪. #hiking
The Lingyin Temple next to the West Lake is one of the most famous temples in Hangzhou, attracting countless tourists. If you have been to Lingyin Temple, you will know that before entering the temple, you must go through a cave. This is Feilai Peak.
Feilai Peak is a small hill. It is not outstanding in the mountains around the West Lake. It is only 168 meters above sea level. Tickets are more expensive than Lingyin Temple. There are more than 300 statues preserved in the area, which is very rare in the Jiangnan area.
According to previous records, Feilaifeng used to have 72 holes, but due to the age, most of them have disappeared. The only remaining holes are concentrated on the southeast side of the Feilai Peak.
The light in the cave is dim, and it is necessary to rely on the light to see the Buddha image. The oldest of these Buddha statues was the Five Dynasties, with a history of more than a thousand years. It is a rare gem of ancient grotto art in Jiangnan, which is comparable to the Chongqing Dazu Rock Carvings.
Su Dongpo liked to fly to the peak during his stay in Hangzhou. He once wrote the poem "There is a place where you can see all the mountains and rivers." In the Song Dynasty, Lingyin Temple must have not many tourists, and it is very quiet in the mountains, and the Zen is far-reaching.
Fei Laifeng's existing stone carvings include the Western Three Statues (Five Generations), the Lushen Buddha Relief (North Song Dynasty), the Budai Monk (South Song Dynasty), the Vajrapani Bodhisattva, the Multi-Heavenly King, and the Male Guanyin (both Yuan Dynasty) ), are rare art treasures.
The scenic area includes Feilai Feng (Flying Peak) and Lingyin Temple. Feilai Feng faces the slopes of Lingyin Temple. There are more than 340 Buddhist grotto statues in Qinglin Cave, Jade Cave, Longhong Cave, Sheyang Cave and on the cliffs along the stream. Lingyin Temple has a history of more than 1600 years. The temple has a classical Jiangnan Temple layout.
