My friend and I were very excited to book an excursion with Quicksilver for an afternoon “turtle town” snorkeling out of Lahaina Harbor. We were and are extremely disappointed in the experience provided. We were not taken to Turtle Town as advertised. We were taken south towards Olowalu. We snorkeled in a reef that was mostly dying or dead. We saw about 5 different types of fish in the reef and that was it. The snorkel report through the snorkel store rated south shore the lowest visibility of any snorkeling on Monday. We have snorkeled in beautiful reefs with dozens of fish, turtles, sharks, and multi colored coral and the experience we were provided was very inadequate for $89. The cruise was supposed to provide lunch and the “lunch” that was provided was a hotdog without a bun as the crew forgot to pack the buns. This is not lunch. As we were departing the boat, my friend asked one of the crew about where they usually snorkel and the crew member called the reef that we snorkeled in “pristine”. I’ve snorkeled in many reefs off of Maui and this was the furthest from pristine. Coral was mostly bleached and dead and it was not full of life the way healthy reefs look.We are extremely disappointed.
