What travelers say:

The Pacific Cemetery is also a monumental area, with several state-level cemeteries, all of which were American soldiers killed during World War II. It is also an important victory ground for World War II and is now an important military base.

Additional Information

Considering that this crater area is thought to have been the historic location of human sacrifices, it's safe to call the placement of a cemetery intended to memorialize the memories of the dead here as adhering to one of the many vague definitions of irony. All jokes aside, this is one of the most respected locations on the island, and is the final resting place for some 34,000 veterans of American wars. The complex is exceptionally well maintained, topped off by the thirty foot tall statue of Lady Columbia that is meant to be a symbol of the grief felt for each brave American serviceman lost in battle. Great views of Waikiki and Diamond Head can be enjoyed from certain points, but, bearing in mind the residents, this area is perhaps a better place for introspective gazing.
