Huangsiyang Ancient Enclosed Village

With a history of nearly 400 years, Huangsiyang Village in Duozhu Town, formerly known as Huangshi Village, is 25 kilometers away from Huidong County. According to legend, the original four surnames Xiao, Yang, Xu and Zheng all moved from Zhangzhou, Fujian to live in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and later developed into a large-scale Dawei Village covering an area of 200,000 square meters. The city gates, temples, academies, and schools, with gorgeous decoration and exquisite craftsmanship, can be called the essence of Lingnan folk architectural decoration. Huangsiyang Village reached its heyday in the Qing Dynasty. According to the genealogy records of the four surnames, there were more than 20 people who were admitted to the Jinshi and Juren at that time, leaving behind a large number of ancient cultural buildings such as Wukui Building, Jiangjundi, and Hanlindi. According to legend, the three characters "Huang Siyang" inscribed on the top of the gate of the West City Gate have an extraordinary origin. They were given by the emperor to commend the Xiao family represented by Xiao Xianzhang and Xiao Fenglai for their integrity and outstanding achievements in the village.
