Ancestral Temple of the Huang Clan

Huang Family Ancestral Hall, also known as Huang's Study Room, is a place where the Han people worship their ancestors or sages. At No. 36, Huancheng West Road, Huicheng District, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, it is the ancestral hall of the Huang family in Guishan County (now Huiyang City, Huidong County, Huicheng District, and Baoan District). It was built in the reign of Renyin, Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty (1842), and was later changed to Huang's study. The Huang Family Ancestral Hall is a three-entry courtyard, and there are three-entry auxiliary rooms on the left side connected by the side door of the alley, with a total construction area of 1,000 square meters. Once entered, it is five rooms wide and three rooms deep. A bow-shaped stone fang is placed on both sides of the gate and in front of the Ming room. Stone horns are used on both sides of the lower side of the gate. Stone lions are placed on the fangs, and a bucket of three liters is placed on the lion. The granite gate is tall and majestic, 3.6 meters high and 2.05 meters wide. The plaque on the gate has four characters of "Huang's Study Room", in regular script and inscribed, each character is 50X60 cm; couplets "The first in the line of excellence" and "Family filial piety and friends" are in running script and inscribed, each character is 25X40 cm, the font is handsome It is smooth and has high calligraphy value. On both sides of the entrance, there are a pair of piers and stones, with a height of 63 cm and a width of 54 cm. The corridor connecting the first and second entrances is composed of three parts, with a hard mountain roof in the middle and a roll-up roof in the front and rear rooms. This approach not only expands the depth of the front patio, but also makes it changeable. On the porch beam of the rolling shed, a joint member composed of eight-sided melon edge and plum blossom bucket is placed to support the purlin. This member is exquisitely carved and has local characteristics. The corridor houses are decorated with rich and varied decorations. The whole building uses cloth gray tiles, and green glazed tiles are used for trimming, which looks solemn and simple. The carving process in the building is smooth, the carved stone lions are vivid and lifelike, the wooden components are camel, and the buckets are exquisite and elegant. There are many frescoes painted with ancient sages on the walls.
