Opium War Museum

The Opium War Museum, also known as Humen Linzexu Memorial Hall, is located in Humen Town, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. It was built in 1957 and has a management area of 800,000 square meters. It was officially opened to the public on January 1, 1958. It is a national attraction and the site of the ancient battlefield of the Opium War. It is a special museum combining commemorative and heritage, ranking first in the provincial museum and one of the largest museums under management in China.

The Opium War Museum, also known as Humen Lin Zexu Memorial Hall, is an important exhibition hall of Opium War cultural relics and patriotic education demonstration base in China. It takes the historical background of "Humen selling cigarettes" as reference, and the headquarters of the museum was built in Humen Town, Dongguan. In June 1839, the national hero Lin Zexu was here, destroying millions of kilograms of opium collected from British and American ships in public, thereby creating a shocking "Humen cigarette sales" incident. The main show in the museum is an exhibition called "Humen Story", which reproduces the life and street scenes of the past with wax. Use physical objects, photos, models, films, etc. to describe the Opium War clearly and not boring. The most shocking picture, perhaps the statue of the opium smoke gun folded into two, is full of power. At the Opium War Museum, visitors can not only admire Lin Zexu's generosity under the oppression of the great powers, but also fully understand the beginning and end of the Opium War and the historical significance from the detailed historical materials. After the venue is free to the public, It has become one of the popular Red Revolution Museums in Dongguan. In addition to the museum, the Opium War Museum includes the Weiyuan Fort, the Maritime War Museum and the Shajiao Fort.
