As you look up at the Kappel Covered Bridge in Lucerne, you can see the Mount Pilatus where the legends of dragons are told. It is magnificent. In Lucerne, there are even Pilatus Street and Pilatus Radio, which shows people's love for the mountain. Mount Pilatus has become a famous attraction with its steep mountaineering railroad tracks and the “Golden Tour”. At the top of the mountain, you can look south from the peaks of the Alps and turn to the north. The sights can reach the German Black Forest through countless lakes. There are also many easy hiking trails on the top of the mountain including the Dragon Road.

It’s overlooking alphachersee. The wind on the mountain is unpredictable. The train to the base of Pilatus is covered by the swiss travel pass, but the cog wheel train and gondola are not (but you get a discount). Both up and down are great rides in themselves, and there is some super hiking at the top (the flower trail is the best), and half way down the east (?) side is a summer toboggan run. I highly recommend
Simply stunning & beautiful , a wonderful country to holiday in & I have wonderful memories from here that will stay with me always.Heaven on earth .A must visit and l also can’t wait to go after if it’s free to travel.I love Switzerland and it’s mesmerizing nature ❤️
When you come to Lucerne, Switzerland, you must experience the boat trip + mountaineering. There are two classic hiking routes: St. Regis and Mount Pilatus. We chose the latter.
Pilatus is a world-class attraction with the world's steepest cog mountain train and the most popular Golden Round Trip. Along the way you can admire the changes in the alpine vegetation, the majestic mountains and the antelopes that occasionally pass by. The scenery on the top of the mountain is also very spectacular and heart-rending.
After reaching the top of the mountain, there is really a small mountain view. On one side is a layer of snow-capped mountains, and on the other side is a scattered lake area. Even if the weather visibility is a bit poor, it is still very shocking.
In addition to tourists who take a small train like us, we also saw many walking enthusiasts walking between the steep mountain walls and the white snow. The hiking route of Mount Pilatus is also world-famous, but for us For those who are physically weak, take a ride on the cable car to see the scenery~
The Golden Tour of Mount Pilatus
Switzerland is surrounded by mountains, living in Zurich or Lucerne, and closer to Mt.Pilatus or Mt.Titlis.
Pilatus is one of Lucerne's patron saints. There are many legends about dragons, so it is called Dragon Mountain, a flying dragon becomes its propaganda sign, and there is a comic version. It is rare to see good dragons in Western culture, and this is one of them.
This mountain is located 15 kilometers southwest of Lucerne at an altitude of 2,132 meters. The most famous is the "Golden Tour" route, which is open from May to October every year. Mountaineering, downhill, of course, there are many people who use haha ~
starting from Lucerne, take the bus to Kriens, about 15 minutes by car. Buy tickets from Kriens first. This ticket can take the small cable car, the big cable car and the gear train.
The first section of the small cable car arrives in Krienseregg in ten minutes. There is a children's playground. If you don't get off, you will arrive at Frakmuntegg at an altitude of 1415 meters in the second 15 minutes. There are restaurants and rides such as the rope park.
Then take the big cable car and take a few minutes to reach the summit of Pilatus Kulm.
There are dragon paths, restaurants, two hotels, souvenir shops, observation decks, etc. I thought it would be very cold on the top of the mountain, but there was not much snow in the summer. It was a bit hot when I walked a little. There are some clouds on the top of the mountain and you can take a bird's eye view of Lake Lucerne The
dragon trail is not difficult to walk, and the longest route takes only half an hour.
Built in 1889, the gear train with a slope of 48 degrees, the red carriage is very beautiful. Because of the snow on the mountain top in winter, it stopped from mid-December to mid-May.
The distance is the snowy Alps. To the north is the German Black Forest, but nothing can be seen in the fog.
Down the mountain to choose the world's steepest gear train, which lasted forty minutes, the end is Alpnachstad on the shores of Lake Lucerne. From here, take a cruise back to Lucerne. Of course, from here, take the train up the mountain, and then the cable car down the mountain is also possible.
