Our Lady of Sorrows Church

The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in Jiu'ao, Coloane Island, is still colorful but looks deserted. Apart from us, there were only two young people riding motorcycles and workers at the nearby Jiu'ao oil depot.

Jiu'ao, which is nearly 10 kilometers away from the Central District of Macau, should be one of the farthest places in Macau. I didn't expect that there is a beautiful little church here [Jiu'ao Church of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows]. It is a very quiet place. The only bus that reaches it is Aubao 21A took the bus to the terminal station, Jiu'ao Oil Depot. I didn't expect that there would still be a few people coming to take pictures. It's really remote. There is an elementary school nearby. Most of them are oil factories. I thought it was cloudy today, but I was a little disappointed. I didn't expect it. I found that I didn’t sit in the car for so long. I really like this small church. The gentle candy color is the color of spring.

Although it is located far away, there are few tourists on weekdays. Visiting the church in the peaceful atmosphere can also calm your mind. For those friends in Macau who love to discover new attractions, there is now another great check-in spot. If you have strong legs, you can continue to visit the Jiu'ao Lighthouse.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in Jiu'ao is a very small church. It is located in a remote area and not crowded. It is small and exquisite. If you have time and are interested, you can come and have a look.

We visited many churches that day, but one left the deepest impression on me because it was the most remote church. It used to be inhabited by lepers, but later it fell into decline, with only cats and gatekeepers left.
