It is one of the first national parks in Japan.

    Original Text

Unzen is said to be the first national park in Japan as Unzen National Park. We entered Unzen from Shimabara City along the Ariake Sea. From the second observatory of Nita toge pass, I could see Mt. Unzen 々 and the Ariake Sea and Amakusa Islands.

    Original Text

Unzen Amakusa National Park is a national park with a vast area of Shimabara Peninsula belonging to Nagasaki Prefecture and Amakusa Islands belonging to Kumamoto Prefecture. This time we have not stepped into Amakusa, but from the Nita Pass 2nd Observatory, which exceeds Unzen's altitude 1000m, we could also see Amakusa Island 々 spreading below our eyes. Especially in some places on the east side of Unzen in the shimabara Peninsula, I saw the appearance of the pyroclastic flow accompanied by the eruption of Unzen Fugen Dake in the beginning of Heisei.
