The arboretum is a huge green space, which looks and feels like a dense forest, with open spaces occasionally everywhere. It was founded by Mr. Batiscombe in 1907 and is now overseen by the Kenyan Ministry of Forestry. There are many paths in the arboretum, almost all of them are nothing but dirt roads. If you walk straight along the wide path leading to the main gate, you will pass some of the most frequently visited places in the area-here we see people picnicking under trees, sitting alone, reading or listening to music
