St. Sebastian's Church - Sea Street | සා. සෙබස්තියන් මුනි දේවස්ථානය - වැල්ලවීදිය

[St. Sebastian Church] (St Sebastian's Church) located on Sea St., is a Gothic church, arguably the most beautiful church in Negombo, was laid on February 2, 1936 by the then Archbishop of Colombo Peter Makay, designed by Father G. Gannon, Originally built entirely to imitate the French cathedral of Lance, but later reduced the height due to insufficient funds. At the door you can see the old and young worshippers. In the early morning, casually walking in the church, sporadic tourists, because it is Saturday, the church is full of worshippers. We arrived at the church of San Sebastian. When we entered the yard, we could see that it occupied a slightly larger area. The whole passage was full of crows, full of crazy grabbing breakfast. Not only are there many prayer crowds in the early morning church, but there are also women devoutly kneeling in front of the statue of Jesus in the courtyard. Children dressed in uniform are praying religiously and conscientiously, and every time they pass by Jesus, they bow their hands and do other things. The sun is shining outside, but the church is cool and comfortable. Here, the human mind seems to have received a moment of peace. It is best not to show a shoulder sling to enter the church, and the trousers and skirts are best over the knees, but no one will stop you from entering, and instead they will beckon you and welcome you to share their faith. Local believers will take off their shoes and enter again, and tourists are not prohibited from wearing shoes, but enough to witness their piety.

Only a short stay in Negombo, strolled to the church of San Sebastian, the pure color church stood quietly under the blue sky, only to see it felt very beautiful. Negombo is relatively small. It took us about 20 minutes to walk from the place where we lived to the church of San Sebastian, or we can take a tutu car. There is no entrance fee for the church, but be sure to keep quiet.
