What travelers say:

Near Place de la Concorde, there is also a not-so-small flower market, similar to a bazaar, a church with Greek architecture, quite different from the Tin-column of Notre Dame, etc, and well worth a visit

Additional Information

Constructed as a temple to glorify Napoleon and his army, Eglise de la Madeleine in Paris functions as a Roman Catholic church while arranging free concerts for the public. Construction began in 1764 but went through several setbacks. After the French Revolution, Napoleon re initiated construction, and the neo-Classical construct opened in 1842. The designers gathered inspiration from antique temples and encompassed the building with 52 Corinthian columns. Churchgoers celebrate mass daily, and free concerts occur twice a month on Sunday afternoons. The concerts incorporate baroque music, chamber music, symphony orchestras and organ recitals.
