What people are saying:

At the western end of the Swan Island in the middle of the Seine in Paris, beside the Eiffel Tower, there stands a statue of liberty, much smaller than the one in New York, but of the same size.

Additional Information

Introduction

Since the French artist Auguste Bartholdi created the Statue of Liberty for New York, Americans in Paris sponsored a smaller version, the Statue de la Liberte, which stands on a little island in the Seine River. You can see it from the bridge of Pont de Grenelle, or from a boat cruising down the Seine. To get even closer take the steps leading down from the bridge to a wide path that goes under the bridge and which leads to the base of the statue.
