The National Museum is Cambodia's famous museum of history and archaeology and contains many Khmer art collections. The museum building features a gabled roof, carved doors and Khmer ancient temple architecture, blending traditional Khmer architecture with French colonial style. There are tens of thousands of precious collections in the museum, spanning different historical periods, mainly including four types of exhibits: stoneware, bronze, porcelain and wood. There are also small collections of oil paintings, textiles, pictures and other archives. Enshrined at a small pavilion in the center of the museum is a small statue. It is surrounded by several small artificial lotus ponds, full of charm.
1.It is prohibited to smoke or take pictures inside Cambodian National Museum.2.You should arrange for the museum to be the earlier stopover before visiting Angkor Wat because attaining some knowledge of the Khmer culture will entail better understanding for your latter tour.3.There are audio guides (In Chinese) available at the museum that you can make use of.

It’s pointless visiting this museum if you don’t take an audio guide.
Sure lots of exhibits have brief descriptions but you get so much more info with guide, instead of just walking around not knowing what you’re looking at.
Lots of carvings/statues/ Buddha etc, but also some interesting artifacts....sadly some with unknown provenance.
Spend a couple of hours here, they have a small cafe and lovely gardens too.
