Yaoshan Ancient Village

A cloudy day in Xiaoqikong is still beautiful enough. I plan to visit before the peak season and prepare for another trip in the summer. Then, I'll try some water activities. It's recommended to take the sightseeing bus directly from the East Gate to Wolongtan and then tour downstream in order, which saves time and effort. For accommodation, choose somewhere near the East Gate. This time I stayed at Huashijian Homestay, which was quite nice. It's a 3-minute walk to the East Gate, and the car can be parked right in front of the homestay. The free breakfast is plentiful, and the wontons are delicious. The owner is from Northeast China and is very enthusiastic and considerate, with excellent service and cleanliness. I will stay here again in the summer with my child. Yaoshan Ancient Village does not have performances every day during the off-season, so it's advised to inquire in advance before going. The Daqikong boat tour is worth taking, and it only takes 1-2 hours to complete the tour.

|In 2024, I didn't expect to see such an ancient village in the deep mountains of Libo, Guizhou. It's not commercialized, primitive and simple, it's really amazing! -Yaoshan Ancient Village High-speed Rail to "Libo" station, a 20-minute taxi ride will get you there. - Bai Jingting and Xie Tingfeng have both come to check in. It's only 5 kilometers away from Libo Xiaoqikong, which is the main settlement of the White Pants Yao. The natural village is well preserved and is known as the "Eastern Indian", preserving the ancient matriarchal clan system. Yao folk customs are fully displayed here. Men wear "white pants", women wear "two pieces of Yao". Villagers in traditional Yao costumes can be seen everywhere in the ancient village. During some special festivals, Yao compatriots will welcome guests with the highest etiquette of "gun firing" and "door-blocking wine". - In the ancient village, you can also see the iconic historical buildings and warehouses. It is supported by four pillars, with wooden boards on the upper layer and a round grain warehouse below. The round warehouse is supported by four wooden pillars at equal distances at the bottom, separated by pottery jars in the middle, which can prevent rats and keep it airy and prevent grain from getting damp and moldy. Under the warehouse is a good place for Yao children to play, women to work and chat. - You can experience Yao embroidery, handmade pottery, and Yao sticky paste dyeing during your visit. Intangible cultural heritage visit: Top Workshop, Sticky Paste Workshop, Medicine Cooking Workshop. Large-scale live performances and bonfire parties by Yao people in Yaoshan, including Fire Gun Dance, Monkey Drum Dance, Bronze Drum Dance, Fire Dance Yaoshan. - About accommodation, friends who like quiet can stay here for two days. This time, we stayed at the "Yaochi Xiaoqikong Homestay" in Yaoshan Ancient Village. If you have nothing to do, you can boil tea around the stove in the countryside and drink tea with friends. The floor-to-ceiling glass in the room allows you to see the strangely shaped rolling hills not far away. The clouds and mist in the early morning are like a fairyland. The room also has a large bath, where you can directly experience one of the three major bathing cultures in the world, Yao bath. The ingredients are Yao medicine made by the medicine cooking shop. It's really comfortable to take a bath while enjoying the view outside the window.

I went there with a playful and nonchalant attitude, and later bought a package of performance + long table banquet, but there was no surprise, especially the long table banquet is not recommended for everyone to try, it's super hard to eat! If you want to watch the performance, you can go and feel the atmosphere! The surprise of the ancient village lies in the culture and heritage of the Yao village. We specifically called a local guide to chat and stroll with us. As the guide explained the customs and history of the Yao people, it deeply attracted our group. Suggestion: Spend 1 or 2 hours to find a guide to explain and stroll around, after the tour, you can find a local restaurant in the scenic area to eat, and then go to the mountain Yao residence to stroll around, to deeply understand the local Yao people's living environment and so on, and finally watch the performance to end

After visiting Xiaoqikong, among Yaoshan Ancient Village and Libo Ancient Town, we chose Libo Ancient Town. The architecture is quite unique, but it's mostly restaurants, a bit too commercialized. We stayed at Guiyuan Inn, which was relatively clean, but the stairs were too high. There's a tree at the entrance with beautiful blossoms. It was quite noisy at night, the air conditioner was loud, and the frogs downstairs were also loud. For someone like me who is particular about my sleeping environment and already has poor sleep, it didn't feel like much of a visit. We had a bean rice hot pot, which tasted okay. We ordered the 88 yuan couple's meal, the beef was delicious. The boss was nice and even gave us a pack of tea, which tasted good. But there's no need to make a special trip here, it's okay if you're just passing by.

Because it's more primitive here, there's always something unexpected to gain; Because the people here are simple, without calculating intrigues; Because there are few tourists here, no need to squeeze for check-in photos; Because it has the ethnic style, historical figures, and rare herbs I want; Because my world is too impetuous, I want to find a place to be quiet, to experience the return to the original. Dongmeng: This used to be one of the poorest villages in Guizhou, without electricity or internet, and the transportation was backward and blocked. But now it's much better, but the village is still very primitive, there is no convenience store in the village, only the mobile 'goods Chang'an' comes to sell irregularly. In the village, you can only see a few old people working and children playing at the entrance of the village. Yao Mountain: White Pants Yao, Two Pieces Yao, I also saw it for the first time here. This is not a male farming and female weaving, it is a matriarchal society. Women work during the day to weave and dye cloth, and men drink and play with birds during the day. Every man here will keep a bird, it is said that they believe that the bird is their lover in the previous life, so the bird cage is almost inseparable. The Two Pieces Yao is for the convenience of breastfeeding, it has to be said that mothers are really great! With the advent of the Internet era, it has gradually lifted the curtain of the mysterious Yao Mountain, allowing outsiders to come in and insiders to go out... Maolan: Perhaps everyone knows Guizhou's emerald - Libo Xiaoqikong, but few people know the secret of the emerald - Maolan The water here is like jade, the trees here grow wildly, on the road, in the water, around the cave, here you can see squirrels, lizards, precious wild orchids, you can experience the combination of karst landform and tropical rainforest, this is Guizhou's classic hiking holy land.
