Facing the nearly 2,000-year-old Colosseum, imagining the shocking scenes of various activities in the Colosseum, and understanding the background and process of its construction, you will further sigh at the rise and fall of the ancient Roman Empire and deeply feel the label of Rome as the eternal city.
• This was the place where gladiators fought for their lives, prisoners on death row struggled with hungry lions, and it was also the great symbol of eternal Rome
• Take in the magnificent architecture and imagine epic battles that once took place here
• Imagine the bustle of the marketplace, the intrigue of political debates, and the opulence of imperial residences
△ The Colosseum was built on the site of the magnificent Dumus Aurea and was completed in 80 AD. But with the decline of the Roman Empire in the 6th century AD, the Colosseum was gradually abandoned and became overgrown. Since then, the Colosseum has been damaged by earthquakes many times, and it has even become a source of stone and marble for builders. Nowadays, only the incomplete skeleton of the Colosseum is left in front of people, but you can still get a glimpse of the style of that day.
△ From the outside, the Colosseum has four floors (including the underground). Currently, only part of the first floor and the second floor are open. On the first floor, you can clearly see the maze-like building in the center of the Colosseum. The basements that were once the Colosseum housed the beasts and gladiators who were about to duel. If you want to see the underground part up close, you need to be led by a tour guide.
△ The entire exterior wall of the Colosseum is made of limestone, with 80 arches (vormitori) on each floor, allowing spectators to quickly enter and take their seats. The recesses on the second and third floors were once filled with marble statues. The top of the wall is dotted with windows and slender Corinthian pilasters, and there are 240 wall columns to support the canvas canopy covering the Colosseum.

The Colosseum is a must-see when you come to Rome. It is a unique experience. Instead of making an appointment yourself, you can go directly to Ctrip. You can take the voucher in the App or email to the ticket gate directly by phone. It doesn't matter if you arrive early or late. You must choose a combined ticket. The park ruins are just opposite the exit. As long as the weather is good, it will definitely be a good place to visit. You can spend an afternoon to experience it slowly.
Two thousand years of history and culture are generally satisfactory. The design style is very distinctive and the experience is not bad. It is worth seeing. Must see in Rome! Really amazing structure and one of the few still standing wonders of the world. I felt privileged to visit it.
Hello from Rome🙋🏻♀️ To take a photo of the Colosseum from the best point, go up the stairs you see on the right as you walk from the Colosseo metro station to the Colosseum. Take your photo in this beautiful view without burning yourself from the heat, under the tree, on the wall right next to the road 📸 Or you can try the Giardinetto del Monte Oppio garden on the road👌🏻Other locations in order
The Colosseum is amazing and worth the visit and the long wait. We definitely enjoyed every moment and it made our trip to Rome much better and drew a big smile on my boy’s face. We’d recommend it to anyone visiting Rome! trust me, you’ll feel like you’ve traveled back in time! ♥️
The Colosseum is an amazing structure that shows what humans can build. I’ve visited it at different times and from various spots, and it’s always impressive. It’s so big you can’t fit it in one picture. It gets crowded, but seeing this giant piece of history is worth it.
Visited Colosseum, Rome during September. A dream to visit this historical place where gladiators roamed. Be careful of gravel pavement. And makesure to keepto your ticket timing, because the guards are pretty strict if you are late. They may not let you in.
