Elena's mausoleum was built by Constantine in the thirteenth century in memory of his mother Elena, near the churches of Saints Marcelino and Petro. It was an important building complex in the early Christian period of Rome. The two cylinders were superimposed on the top of it. They were smaller in diameter and covered by domes. The inner part of the lower cylinder is an octagon.
