It takes about an hour to drive from Stonehenge to the town of Bath, passing through endless grasslands and farmland, typical English countryside scenery. The stones that make up the stone circle are a type of bluestone from the Preseli Hills in southern Wales, 240 miles from the current location of the stone circle. Stonehenge is arranged in a concentric circle, the stones are roughly rectangular, but they stand upright on the ground, more than thirteen feet high. On top of the adjacent stones, there is another stone lying on top, either spanning two or four, arranged in a strange pattern.

We took a bus from London to Salisbury where Stonehenge is located. It was an enjoyable ride as we rode from the city to the city side. We got to see the scenes transformed from buildings to natural landscape. Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Salisbury England. It consists of a series of vertical stones. There are many stories on who built the stones and thus there is a mysterious vibe on it. As it was the fall season, the misty atmosphere and trees will falling leaves add to mysterious vibe.

It is around 15 km away from Salisbury train station. I took the train from London to Salisbury, exit the station, there have a bus that bring you there. You also can join the tours start from London. The green color bus depart every 1 hour that took around 30 minutes to arrive the entrance. You can book the entrance tickets from there is around 30 pound++. Reaching the entrance there a counter, you need to take another bus to the site.

Look like just simple stones build but actually there is meaning and history behind it. Stonehenge is unesco heritage site where the old urban people used to live here in camp and created this for some symbol. Because of its ancient history, this place has been marked as unesco heritage place. Entrance ticket here very expensive so I signed up as student, but still very costly. However, I find that its worth because I get to explore around and see the museum not just staring on stones. Come here to learn the mystery and the story of this prehistoric stone monuments in England. It’s still so amazing and mysterious how men in the past managed to erect such a structure. Visitors are not allowed to come very near to the stone as the ground around the stones are very soft. However, it’s very easy to observe the stone from the allowable parameter. Since it’s a British cultural heritage, do spend some time to walk around the site. Audio guide was given so that tourists can understand more about the history of the stone. There’s also a cafe and a souvenir shop at the exit if you need to get a quick bite or some souvenirs.
