Huangpu River Cruise(Dongchang Road Pier)

The Shanghai Ferry is a system of ferry routes across the Huangpu River. Dongchang Road Pier is one of several embarkation locations serviced by the ferry. Prior to the 1970s, this was the only way to cross between the river's east and west banks. Ridership expanded throughout that decade such that the Shanghai Ferry became one of the world's busiest ferry services. With the construction of several bridges and tunnels, ridership has declined dramatically from its peak. Nevertheless, the Shanghai Ferry remains a fun and inexpensive way to cross between the two major parts of Shanghai. As a sightseeing excursion, it is well worth the time to take the short ride along the water.
