Shanghai Stadium

Shanghai Stadium was the main venue of the 8th National Games of China in 1997. It is also called the 80,000-seat Stadium because it can accommodate 80,000 spectators. It is a world-class stadium. The stadium covers an area of 190,000 square meters. The entire building is circular with a diameter of 300 meters and a total elevation of more than 70 meters. It is a large-scale comprehensive sports facility integrating sports competitions, cultural and sports performances, fitness and entertainment, accommodation, business offices and shopping exhibitions.

The 80,000-seat stadium adopts many of the world's most advanced architectural achievements. Its novel shape reflects a strong sense of the times. It is dotted in a broad square covered with green grass and colorful flowers, like green leaves setting off a giant white magnolia flower.
