Located in the old Shanghai Dapuqiao area, it used to be just an alleyway on Taikang Road. After being re-paved in the 1990s, it has now become a hub of modern artistic creativity, attracting many tourists.
Tianzifang's original name was 'Zhichengfang', built in the 1930s, it has been around for more than ninety years. The old stories hidden in the bustling Shanghai alleys are now one of Shanghai's top ten creative industries, a gathering place for cultural tourism.
Most of Shanghai's alleys are Shikumen-style buildings, originating from the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom uprising period, drawing on the style of residential buildings in the Jiangnan region, with stone door frames and solid black lacquered thick wood doors, hence the name 'Shikumen'.
Touring Tianzifang's cultural and creative style, the old buildings made of red bricks, narrow alleys, retaining the architectural features of the old Shikumen houses. It seems to return to the past elements of time and space.

Tian Zifang, belonging to the original Luwan District Dapuqiao Street (now Huangpu District), south Taikang Road, north Jianguo Middle Road, east Sinan Road, west Daruijin 2nd Road. Tianzifang is usually divided into two parts, part is located in Taikang Road 210 Lane of the alley factory group, that is, the current Tianzifang factory area, this part of the building was built in the 1950s, by Shanghai People's Needle Factory, Shanghai Food Industry Machinery and other 6 home factories. Another part is the traditional Linong residential area in Shanghai, which is now Tianzifang Linong area, including various types of residences in Taikang Road 210, 248, 274, and the construction time span is more than 100 years.
