Yundao Park
There used to be a railway called the Katsuta Line for coal transportation in coal mines, and it seems that this place was Shime Station. Along the railway is a green promenade. Suitable for jogging and walking.
The station that has been discontinued is in the park
A route that carried coal near the Shime Mining Co., Ltd. and the mine turret. Although the line is now discontinued, it is a park that retains the remnants of the old days. The Shime Mining Center and Mine Tower seen from Shime Railway Memorial Park are also wonderful, so why not stop by when visiting Shime Mining Center and Mine Tower?

In Fukuoka Prefecture, there were coal fields that represent Japan such as Chikuho and Omuta, and there was also a coal mine called Shime Mining Center in Shime Town. From the coal field, a railway network was developed to send the coal mined to the port. The Jnr Katsuta Line (which tends to imagine the Joban Line when it comes to Katsuta) runs in Shime Town, and it survives as a place name even if the station disappears like in front of Nansato Station at a nearby intersection. Former station site park
It is a spot you want to visit as a set with Shime Railway Park and the site of Shime Mining Co., Ltd. The former home is left. Currently, the platform is divided by roads. It's not bad to look up at the sky from the park and see the remains of the mining plant.
Traces of prospering as a coal mine town adjacent to Fukuoka
You can see the prosperity of the time at Shime Mining Center / Mine Tower and Shime Railway Memorial Park. It is recommended to visit both Shime Mining Center / Mine Tower and nearby. There are now railroad tracks and station information boards, but it is a beautiful park.
