What people are saying:

The Bayan Temple is also a unique building of the Angkor culture. The whole temple is in the forest, it is quite large in scale, and there are some very large traces. The temple has more than 100 years of history, and you can see some statues and buildings with broken walls.

Introduction

Discover the extraordinary architecture of the Bayon, a 12th century Khmer temple, and the Cambodian history traced in its walls. This imposing and intricate stone structure is a pleasure for the casual sight-seer and the scholar alike. Originally built in the 1300's as the official state temple in the Mahayana Buddhist style, it was later modified to suit the Hindu and Theravada Buddhist Kings that followed. The Bayon is also famous for its bas-reliefs, which depict mythological and historical scenes in unique combination, most likely because of the Temple's complicated cultural background.
