We took a tour of the glacier along two main routes from the large parking lot. It was easy to walk. Beautiful shrub-lined track. It was sad to see how much the glacier has receded in the past 125 years, but most importantly how much has receded in the past 10 years. The power of nature is visible all around you, and the massive flooding that occurred a few years ago has caused big slippages and blockages of the track, as evidenced. DOC and other equipment have done a great job in making the tracks safe to walk.

The power of nature is visible all around you, and the massive flooding that occurred a few years ago has caused big slippages and blockages of the track, as evidenced. DOC and other equipment have done a great job in making the tracks safe to walk.
The pool water is quite clear and calm as a mirror. The reflection of the distant mountains is projected in the pool water, which makes people feel extremely poetic and picturesque. From time to time, the wild ducks swim across the pool, breaking the peace of the moment.
