Superb drive down from Reykjavík. Do it if you have couple of hours to spare
Wow wow wow. We did this drive as a bit of an afterthought with hire car as we had done main golden circle. It was a beautiful drive. Stunning road around lake and through volcanic landscape. Kept go...
You can mostly get a good view of the lake while driving along it. We found a small spot to leave our car and climb up a cliff to get a really good view of the lake from above.

On our visit was in March, so a lot of the lake was still frozen. The drive along the edge was a bit like a roller coaster ride at times but worth it for the views.

Small but lovely lake in Iceland. Looks different from most other lakes in the country. Not far from the road and it pays to stop there
