Additional Information

The Swedish capitol city of Stockholm offers many delightful architectural sights for the tourist. If you would like to see something a bit unusual, add a stop at the Riddarholmskyran to your itinerary. This medieval church, founded in 1270 as a Grey Friar monastery, appears as an unconventional cluster of domes and spires. Located on the island of Riddarholmen, the building dominates the this small islet's skyline. Since 1807 the building has been used solely as a burial place for Swedish royalty and for official ceremonies. Tours of the interior, where many Swedish kings and queens are entombed, are offered during certain months. Even a walk around the exterior, to view this historical Swedish icon, is worth your time.
