based on 43 reviewsOriginally built in 1878, the synagogue is a beautiful building that is still frequently used by Sydney's Jewish community and its design shows how Judaism has evolved. Our guide said the pulpit was originally located in the center of the large sanctuary, but was moved to the front to accommodate more people and use the space more efficiently. There are still separate areas for men and women, and seating is split between the ground and balcony. Tours are limited, so check their website to avoid disappointment. There is a nominal fee.

The Cathedral is a beautiful synagogue built in the 19th century in a Gothic style. It is located on Elizabeth Street, close to Sydney Hyde Park. It is a beautiful synagogue from the outside, or it would be even better to see it from Hyde Park. It's a pity that we couldn't enter the synagogue because it was always closed (we don't know if it's only open during worship). (Thank you, Dad, for this gift)
