Tall Hermann

A hill on the west side of the old town. There is a castle called Tombiya Castle. Today, I mainly talk about this group of castle buildings that were built after Denmark occupied Estonia in 1912. So Tombiya Castle is also called the Danish Castle or the Cathedral Mountain Castle. Historically, this castle was the fortress of Estonia that every occupant controls today, the palace of St. Catherine in the castle or the pink building seen in the square where the Estonian National Assembly is located, the Baroque palace of the Yekaterina II era. The south garden of the castle has a 46-meter tower called Hermann Tower, the commanding height of the entire castle, and now every day at sunrise, the Estonian flag will fly on the top of the tower.

One of Estonia’s must-see medieval castles! The place is very interesting and colorful! The legend of this place is also interesting, once a poor girl is trapped on the walls of the castle and now in the full moon of August, her ghost will appear on the inner walls of the church.

Hermann Castle is the oldest of the Teutonic Order Castle.
