A day in Hallstatt during winter
We have early train to catch from Salzburg to Hallstatt. We have booked our ticket from Salzburg Hbf to Hallstatt Bahnhst from OEBB site in advanced, and it is very simple. Cheaper option is to take bus, however, we have heavy luggage and hence pick on the train option.
along this 2 hour journey, you got to see a great views too. After arrival at the train station, we hop on the ferry (buy the ticket as well as the return ticket here) to the other side of the lake. the view of the lake is wonderful in the breezy winter time

About 10 mins walk from the ferry pier, we came to the luggage storage near the town centre, then we head ( walking uphill :)) to the Salt Mine (Salzwelten Hallstatt). We bought the ticket at the entrance and make sure you use the toilet before getting change. There's a locker for you to keep your own belongings. Mobile phones are allowed to take in to the salt mine tour. It was a awesome 1.5 hours tour in the salt mine, learn some history and how salt mine was formed. We got a little souvenir after the tour.
We had our lunch at the nearby restaurant just outside the salt mine, i would recommend other options (only 4 tables in this restaurant indoor, unless you want to sit outside enjoy the cold!!!) we then walked towards the town centre and where we visited Evangelische Pfarrkirche Hallstatt Church, Christmas market is in the town centre, and Postcard viewpoint of Hallstatt. This is a very small town and you can walk slowly and enjoy the view. The ferry schedule is fixed and if you want to catch a good spot on the ferry back to the train station, you will have to queue before the ferry arrived at the dock. Hallstatt in winter is marvellous!#
Amazing scenery. It has a very chill vibe for people to relax and have great fun.
It should be a fairyland on earth. The beautiful town of Huizhou, Guangdong. There is a 1:1 restored cottage version. Both of them have seen it. It should be in the fairy tale. This kind of beauty should be in the fairy tale. Calling a cup of coffee by the lake. Watching the black swan and the white swan playing in the lake. It’s really not too beautiful.
The lakeside town of Austria, the lake is beautiful and the scenery is beautiful. However, too many passengers cause trouble to the local residents, so we must be conscious as passengers!
💡 Hallstatt, a town nicknamed the "Fairy Tale Town of the World." The town has a history of over 4,000 years and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its stunning location surrounded by mountains and water makes it feel like a paradise. In addition to its breathtaking scenery, Hallstatt is also home to an ancient salt mine which is still in operation. Visitors can learn about the process of salt mining and experience two thrilling slides that add a touch of fun to the tour.
A small town in the Austrian Lake District, one of the most beautiful towns in the world, we went with the group, we couldn't stay there for one night to enjoy the beauty of the night and early morning without tourists, and there was no time to taste the food here. Fortunately, there are two and a half small hours of free activity in our group. At the time, it was enough to basically take a circle of photos, and I bought handmade soap, but I didn't buy bath salt. I specially brought a prop rattan knit bag, and the 15-degree weather was quite hard to wear a short-sleeved dress in an idyllic style. There is a cemetery on the mountain that is also very beautiful. It is not scary. The human bone church is not in, and the salt mine is even more too late.
Arriving at Harstadt coincided with the snow, beautiful, really as if I had come to the fairy tale world, watching rows of small houses like Christmas gingerbread houses, colorful, although because of the snow and mist, I couldn't see the reflection in the lake. The scenery, But this snow scene is really fascinating ~ worthy of being one of the most beautiful towns in Europe!
