The Mermaid of Warsaw is a statue based off many local legends related to mermaids, so the mermaid became a symbol of Warsaw. The mermaid statue in the old town is located on the banks of the Vistula River, and is made of bronze. It is the city emblem of Warsaw and is the pride of Warsaw. The statue is a nude girl with a beautiful carp tail. The mermaid holds a sword in her right hand and a shield in the left hand, leaping above the raging waves.
