Additional Information

Wei Zhen Temple was first built in the 6th year of the reign of Longqing in the Ming Dynasty. During the hundreds years of its history, Wei Zhen Temple was damaged and restored several times. In 1997, Weizhen Temple was reconstructed as an three-storey octagon tower. Weizhen Temple is situated at the bank of Jiulong River, overlooking the center of Zhangzhou, and standing in concert with Weizhen Pavilion built in Zhi Mountain. The carved beams in the main tower, paintings, and blackwood carving articles have unique style. The quintessence of Chinese culture and tens of thousands of lantern riddles both at home and abroad are treasured up in the temple. Weizhen Temple, nowadays, still inherits the three-storey organizational system, being an octagon building. The size of Weizhen Temple has far exceeded those in various dynasties.
