What people are saying:

There are few more memorable places than an Alpine village in the winter. Karwendel is a remarkable place. Truly a fairytale setting. We arrived from Innsbruck via Absam, which is itself a quaint little village. From there it wasn’t hard to travel up the short valley and into Karwendel park. The scenery is stunning, with crisp mountain air and snow-covered peaks. Our only minor regret was not being able to see the amount wildlife on display in spring and summer. Still this is a small complaint to what was, overall, a really beautiful place to visit.

Great views on a clear day

Plenty of steps to reach the summit, but well worth it as the views of the surrounding area and the main square are great.

    A wonder of raw nature

As a Canadian I have discovered beauty and raw nature of the Karwendel. Flowing streams of crystal blue water, rugged peaks and a good variety of hiking and biking trails. Last week we hiked to Lamsen...

Take in the majesty of the Alps

The Karwendel is the 2nd highest mountain in Germany, bordering Austria. Starting at the base lodge in Mittenwald a cable car takes you to the (almost) top of the Karwendel, approximately 20-30 minute...
