Tirta Empul Temple is over 1,000 years old. Because of its massive size, and its unique character in embodying various details from temples. As such it stood out from the “Island of a thousand temples”. What is most unique is the holy spring within the temple. This source has never once run dry over the past thousand years, and is still revered by the faithful today. Both male and female visitors must wrap themselves in sari upon arrival. No shorts or skirts are allowed. There are sari wraps, provided free at charge, at the service desk located at the entrance to the temple.
Apparently if you bathe in every single one of the sources here you can change your luck, however you must first know what each source means symbolically. Some can bring you financial luck, some can bring you a child, but there are also 2 sources whose water is specifically used to bathe the dead and you must not touch those.

It’s really nice to vise Tirta Empul temple, one of the most famous temple in #bali where you can bath in holy spring water to experience Hindu Balinese culture. Inside, there is a large pond that you can feed hundreds of fat fishes. Please note that it’s quite crowded here especially on Sunday. #hindutemple #temple #hindu #bali #fishes #holywater #spring
Tirta Empul Temple is was built among the underground springs from which it draws its name. The temple's spring pool is a main attraction. The pool is fed by 10 spring outlets that pour onto a base of fine black sand. Even after thousands of years, the pool waters remain crystal clear, reflecting the blue sky and green trees to create a breathtaking scene. Many locals come here for ritual ceremonies. Visitors can partake by dunking their heads under the spring outlets and moving from left to right around the pool.
