Immigration Museum (Museums Victoria)

As soon as we entered the museum, the staff immediately smiled and greeted us and began to have a short conversation with us, which made us feel welcome, especially when they saw my husband walking on crutches. The place has three floors and you can take the stairs or the elevator. If you want to buy books about Australia, there is also a cafe and bookstore. The tattoo exhibition is very interesting and eye-opening, showing body-sized tattoo photos of Samoans and Japanese. The third floor is all about immigrants, where they come from, their names, their looks, what they say, what they wear and eat, and so on. It's funny. But I believe museums can provide more information about the diversity of people who came to this country many years ago and how the country has evolved since.

Australia is doing a great job in describing the past and how they have changed over time. This museum tells of the different stages this relatively young country has gone through, and the exhibits are so touching. Loved the interactive "interview" about who accepted to enter the country and liked the relevant videos of different immigrants. Hopefully I could spend more time getting to know, but learned a lot in the short time we were there. I highly recommend you to get a better understanding of this complex country.
