Pattaya Elephant Village is a not-for-profit elephant sanctuary located in Pattaya in the Thai Province of Chonburi. It was originally used to train elephants to perform labor, but has now become a famous tourist destination. The elephant village was established in 1973 to provide a safe place for former working elephants that have been injured or fallen ill. Visiting the elephant village is not only a near-spiritual experience, but an act of charity, as visitors’ entrance fees go towards providing for the elephants both now and in the future.
