Wat Rajapradit Sathitmahasimaram Rajaworavihara Photos

The Rachapadit Temple used to be located in Saranrom Park (SaranromPark), and now it is located in the northeast corner of the outside of the park, very close to the Grand Palace. It's a charming, peaceful temple that is visited by relatively few tourists. The temple was built by Rama IV in the mid-19th century, and the king's taste in combining the East and the West is on full display in his choice of building materials for the temple. For example, the roof of the main Buddhist temple is made of a forbidding grey marble, while the interior murals, created in the 19th century, depict scenes of lively celebrations at various festivals in the Thai calendar. In addition, some frescoes depict extravagant preparations for the Great Swing celebration, there are scenes of people celebrating the annual Loy Krathong festival, and one depicts a king watching a lunar eclipse. Striking carvings adorn the temple doors, eaves and temple gables. Notable buildings in the temple include elegant pavilions, Khmer-style Purangs, and grey marble stupas.
